Yesterday, in an update to its website, the CDC has increased the number of reported King Nut Salmonella typhimurium poisonings to 410 in 42 states. The organization has also said that the tainted peanut butter is suspected in three deaths. 18% of the victims were hospitalized with severe symptoms.
The salmonella-riddled product was produced by Peanut Corporation of America, based in Lynchburg, Va., and is distributed nationally by Ohio-based King Nut Companies.
