8 are dead and 1 is injured after a tragic helicopter crash in Terrebonne Parish yesterday. 9 people were aboard a helicopter en route to an offshore oil rig when the chopper went down in the marshes of the lower southwest portion of the Parish around 3pm. The cause of the crash is unknown.
The Coast Guard launched a rescue helicopter and crew from Air Station New Orleans to the scene. The lone survivor was transported to the Hebert Medical Center in Houma.
Officials are investigating the ill-fated flight, and are currently notifying family members of the victims. c
