A deadly accident on I-49 near Opelousas took the life of an 18-wheeler driver this weekend. The truck was moving south on the interstate carrying a load of asphalt, when it sideswiped an SUV, ran off the road, and then flipped. The trucker was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the SUV were both wearing seatbelts and were not injured.
