Crash During Homecoming Parade Leaves Winnfield Students Injured

The Winnfield High School homecoming parade came to an abrupt halt after a young woman hit two band members, then crashed into a Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office vehicle before coming to a stop.

The young driver of the 1975 Chevy Caprice was carrying Homecoming Court Members, when she struck two band members, failed to stop and then careened into the Sheriff’s vehicle. She was driving too quickly for parade conditions and was cited for reckless driving.

Several band members were injured in what officials called a “domino effect.” Several students sought medical treatment, including the two students that were hit by the vehicle. None of the injuries seemed life threatening.
