Around 7 am yesterday morning, a school bus collided with a garbage truck near Vidalia, Louisiana. 45 Concordia parish school students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. One girl suffered a more serious hip injury that will require surgery. The driver of the bus, also seriously injured, was extracted from the bus and airlifted to a Jackson, Mississippi hospital. He remains in critical condition.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation, but it appears that the bus collided with the back of the garbage truck on U.S. Highway 84. Two city employees also suffered minor injuries.
